1. What is "Digital DNA" for AI?

The government now defines "Synthetically Generated Information" as any content created or altered using AI.

  • The Mandate: Every AI image, video, or audio file must have embedded metadata that identifies it as AI-generated.

  • The Goal: To fight the surge of Deepfakes and misinformation during high-traffic periods like the Holi festival.

2. How to Comply Before You Post

If you are using tools like Gemini or Nano Banana to create Holi content, here is how to ensure you are compliant:

  • Check the Metadata: Most professional AI tools now automatically embed the required "AI-Generated" tag. Verify this using a metadata viewer before uploading to social media.

  • Traceability: Platforms are now required to maintain an Audit Trail. If you strip the metadata to make the content look "real," you are in direct violation of the February 20, 2026, Gazette notification.

  • Clear Labeling: In addition to the "Digital DNA," the law requires a visible watermark or text overlay stating "Generated by AI" for any content involving human likenesses.

3. The Cybersecurity Risk: Fake "Compliance" Tools
